Dubai Launches Employee-to-Entrepreneur Program to Fuel Startup Boom
Dubai has launched the Employee-to-Entrepreneur Program, an initiative by the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ) to transform employees into entrepreneurs. The program aligns with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and complements the UAE's national campaign to become the 'Startup Capital of the World'.
The program is structured in three phases: idea development, business planning, and launch. Participants gain access to DIEZ's infrastructure, licensing support, incubators, and accelerator platforms. Submissions are evaluated on their scalability, economic potential, and wider social and economic impact. The initiative aims to empower employees working within DIEZ's economic zones to turn their ideas into businesses.
Oraseya Capital, DIEZ's investment arm, provides funding and advisory services to help ventures scale. The investment arm supporting talented startups within the program is named 'Dubai Future District Fund'. Early applications have proposals across sectors including technology, healthcare, design, and mobility.
The Employee-to-Entrepreneur Program seeks to unlock untapped entrepreneurial talent within existing organizations and drive innovation from within Dubai's workforce. By providing support and financing, the program aims to foster a culture of entrepreneurship and boost Dubai's startup ecosystem.
