Disturbing bus commotions have provided an annoyance for residents in Santa Amélia neighborhoods

In the heart of the Pampulha region, residents of Rua dos Expedicionários in the Santa Amélia neighbourhood are enduring daily noise disruptions due to buses from line 618. The noise, exacerbated by old and noisy buses, even those with air conditioning, is causing concern among the community.

Rua dos Expedicionários, a significant street in the Pampulha region, is served by lines 618 and 643. Line 618 transports passengers from the Rio Branco, Santa Mônica, Copacabana, Jardim Leblon, and Santa Amélia neighbourhoods to the Pampulha Station.

One resident, who has lived at the address for four and a half years, has measured up to 80 decibels of noise inside her apartment during peak hours. The vibration from the buses is so strong that it has caused a small crack in the wall of her living room.

The resident, along with other concerned neighbours, can seek help from the Civil Defense. The service, which operates 24 hours a day and is free of charge, can be contacted at the number 199. It is essential to provide the complete address of the location and a clear description of the identified problem.

Cler Santos, an urban planner within the Belo Horizonte City Hall, acknowledges the issue and assures that the city hall's Superintendence of Mobility will analyze the problem of the sonic impact caused by vehicle traffic on the street.

The community can also discuss the issue at meetings of the Regional Commission of Transport and Traffic (CRTT). For immediate complaints, a Super News Panel is available, and reports with photos can be sent to the WhatsApp number (31) 98475-5294.

Municipal Law No. 9,505, of January 23, 2008, regulates the control of noise, sounds, and vibrations, but it does not appear to specifically address bus noise. Despite this, the city hall is taking steps to address the issue and ensure the peace and comfort of its residents.
