Disruptions and malfunctions affecting Berlin's Suburban Railway System
Berlin, August 18, 2025 — Berlin S-Bahn services are facing significant disruptions due to a repair on a signal at Bellevue station. The central lines S3, S5, S7, and S9 are affected, with delays and occasional service cancellations reported.
The repair work, carried out by S-Bahn Berlin's maintenance team, has been ongoing since at least August 11, 2025. The issue has caused disruptions during the morning peak hours, affecting the same lines and stemming from the same repair work on the Bellevue signal.
On Monday, August 18, a malfunction at Bellevue caused extensive delays lasting about eight hours on lines S3, S5, S7, S75, and S9. Although repairs were completed, the S75 line continued running only every 20 minutes. On line S5, the usual frequency has been reduced to a 10-minute interval only between Hoppegarten and Ostbahnhof, reflecting ongoing limitations linked to the signal repair at Bellevue.
Passengers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and to expect delays on the affected lines. To stay updated, passengers are encouraged to check the S-Bahn Berlin website or app for the latest updates on their journeys. The repair on the signal at Bellevue station is not affecting any other S-Bahn lines in Berlin.
S-Bahn Berlin apologizes for any inconvenience caused by the repair work at Bellevue station and has advised passengers to check the status of their lines before setting out. After 10:00 AM, S-Bahn services on the lines S3, S5, S7, and S9 are expected to return to normal.
