Feel the Disney Magic!
Cruise into Record-Breaking Profits
Disney posts impressive €3.4 billion quarterly earnings
In a breathtaking start to the year, entertainment behemoth Disney grazed the $3.4 billion mark in just a single quarter, reckoning nearly $3 billion. How did they manage to pull off this feat? The answer lies in the skyrocketing subscriber count and the increased spending power at Disney theme parks.
On a brisk Wednesday, Disney disclosed a whopping 7% increase in revenue for the period, reaching a stupendous $23.6 billion. The profit, which was a mere $216 million due to a write-off the previous year, experienced a staggering surge.
Welcome Aboard, 1.4 Million More!
The mastermind behind this financial hurricane? None other than Disney+, which welcomed a hearty 1.4 million additional passengers, bumping up its paying users to an astonishing 126 million. Previous predictions had anticipated further decline, but Disney+ managed to silently slip out of the sinking ship, raising many eyebrows.
A bumpy ride was experienced during the previous quarter, where the subscriber count hit a roadblock. However, the river of fortune has flowed long and steady for Disney+ since last summer, five years after its arrival.
Expanding Horizons
We can't only talk about Disney+, though. Revenue from the entertainment segment, including film studios and channel groups, skyrocketed by a mind-boggling 9% to an astounding $10.7 billion. Other significant investments include the booming ESPN+ sports streaming service and, drumroll please, plans for another shimmering gem – a brand new Disneyland in Abu Dhabi, making it the seventh on the map.
