Disney Hikes Streaming Prices: Disney+, Hulu, ESPN Select Affected
Disney has announced significant price increases for its streaming services. The changes, which do not relate to the recent suspension of Jimmy Kimmel's late-night show on ABC, will affect Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN Select subscribers. Starting in late October, Disney+ standalone plans will see a hike. The ad-supported tier will jump to $11.99 per month, a $4 increase from the current $7.99. Annually, this translates to approximately $143.88. The ad-free Premium Plan will also increase, from $7.99 to $18.99 per month, or $189.99 per year. Hulu, another Disney-owned service, will also raise its prices. The ad-supported plan will increase by $2, to $11.99 per month. The Disney+ and Hulu bundle with ads will cost $12.99, up from $9.99. The Disney+ Premium Plan, Hulu, and ESPN Select bundle with ads will increase to $19.99, a $5 hike from the current $14.99. ESPN Select, a standalone service, will see a $3 increase to $12.99 per month. This is the fourth consecutive year that Disney+ has raised its prices. The increases come as Disney continues to invest in content and expand its streaming offerings. Despite the price hikes, Disney maintains that its services remain competitive in the streaming market.
