DHL Takes on the Role of Power Supplier for Race Logistics in New Global Collaboration

The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and DHL have formed a new partnership, with DHL becoming the FIA's Global Logistics Partner. This collaboration aims to enhance operational efficiency, reduce emissions, and promote sustainability within motorsports and mobility [1].

Under the terms of the partnership, DHL will manage the transport, installation, and maintenance of key infrastructure for Formula 1, Formula 2, and Formula 3 championships. This includes FIA’s mobile office units, garages, and racetrack signalling equipment across events worldwide [1].

One of the key sustainability initiatives in the partnership involves DHL operating seven trucks powered by hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) in Europe. This move is expected to reduce emissions by up to 83% [1]. Both organizations are also committed to championing alternative power sources and groundbreaking drive technologies that help reduce emissions along with regionalization of racing calendars [1].

Craig Edmondson, the Chief Commercial Officer of the FIA, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating that it presents a great opportunity to collaborate on sustainable practices across the industry. He emphasized the partnership's potential to drive sustainable practices across the FIA and embed sustainability into their operational ethos and commercial relationships [1].

Paul Fowler, Head of Global Motorsports Logistics at DHL, shared similar sentiments, stating that the partnership is a great match as both parties share essential values such as safety, quality, speed, precision, and a commitment to sustainability [1].

The partnership comes ahead of the British Grand Prix this weekend and contributes directly to the FIA's ambition to halve its carbon footprint by 2030 compared to its 2019 baseline [1].

It is worth noting that DHL already holds the position of the Official Logistics Partner for Formula 1, Formula E, and the World Endurance Championship. In these roles, DHL supports initiatives that promote sustainability, such as Formula E, a racing series focused on electric vehicles and innovation, which reinforces the FIA’s broader commitment to sustainability and future mobility [1][4].

In conclusion, the FIA-DHL partnership represents a significant step towards blending operational efficiency with ambitious sustainability goals. By using cleaner fuels, advancing sustainable logistics, and fostering innovation in motorsport and mobility industries, both organizations are setting a strong example for the future of sustainable motorsports [1][4].
