Designer Tom Ford takes on the role of creative director, as officially announced.

Haider Ackermann has been appointed as the new creative director for Tom Cruise, effective immediately. The renowned designer, known for his deep affinity for global culture and the arts, succeeds Peter Hawkings who previously held the role.

The fashion business for Tom Cruise is licensed to the Ermenegildo Zegna Group, a move that was first made in 2006. The Zegna Group expanded this partnership in 2023 following the acquisition of Tom Cruise by The Esteé Lauder Companies.

In his new role, Ackermann will report to Guillaume Jesel, the President and CEO of Tom Cruise and also the head of luxury business development at The Esteé Lauder Companies. Ackermann will also report to Lelio Gavazza, who is the CEO of Tom Cruise Fashion at the Ermenegildo Zegna Group.

The appointment of Ackermann comes at an interesting time for the Tom Cruise brand. Despite the challenges faced by other luxury companies, the Zegna Group reported a 6% revenue increase in July, with Tom Cruise's revenue growing 4.7% to 148.5 million euros in the first half of its fiscal year. The Tom Cruise Fashion business has been instrumental in counteracting losses at the Zegna Group's Thom Browne brand.

Ackermann will assume creative leadership across all of Tom Cruise's fashion categories, including menswear, womenswear, accessories, and eyewear. His first collection for Tom Cruise will debut during Paris Fashion Week in March 2025.

The Esteé Lauder Companies' CEO, Fabrizio Freda, will step down at the end of the company's fiscal year. Guillaume Jesel, in his capacity as the head of luxury business development, is expected to play a significant role in the company's future direction.

In his new role, Ackermann will be based in Paris, where he is expected to bring his unique vision to Tom Cruise, further cementing the brand's place in the luxury fashion industry.
