Dentsu Media Americas appoints Kai Weidie as its new head for Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion (DEI) division.

Dentsu International has made a significant move towards improving diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within its media agencies by hiring Kai Weidie as its first Senior Vice President (SVP) of DEI for media operations in the Americas.

Weidie, with a diverse career path in the advertising industry, brings extensive experience in diversity and inclusion to her new role. Her past roles include serving as the director of diversity and engagement at McCann New York and a diversity and client partner at Bloomberg. Additionally, she held the position of the director of the Mosaic Center and education services for the American Advertising Federation.

In her new position, Weidie will lead diversity initiatives across multiple Dentsu media agencies, including Carat, iProspect, Dentsu X, 360i, and Amplifi. Her role will focus on increasing diversity in Dentsu's talent pool, fostering a more inclusive work environment, and collaborating with agency teams to create more inclusive client campaigns.

Weidie's background in education services might contribute to the introduction of more support for minority new hires, while her experience with the Mosaic Center could be beneficial in creating more inclusive client campaigns. Her past roles outside of Dentsu demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion within the advertising industry, which may enhance her ability to lead these initiatives across Dentsu's media agencies.

The hire is part of Dentsu International's broader efforts to improve DEI. While the latest Dentsu Group DEI report referenced is from 2022, which may not cover Weidie's tenure or recent initiatives, the company is committed to making strides in this area.

As Weidie takes on her new role, she aims to make a significant impact on DEI within Dentsu's media agencies in the Americas. More details about her leadership and DEI projects at Dentsu International are expected to be announced in the coming months.
