Delta Jets Collide at LaGuardia: No Passenger Injuries, Crew Member Hurt
Two Delta Air Lines regional jets collided at LaGuardia Airport in New York on the evening of October 1, 2025. The incident involved an aircraft preparing for takeoff to Roanoke, Virginia and another that had just arrived from Charlotte, North Carolina. Fortunately, no passenger injuries were reported, but a flight attendant was taken to the hospital with a knee injury.
Air traffic control had instructed the Virginia-bound plane to hold short and yield to the other aircraft before the collision. Despite this, the two planes collided at a low speed, damaging the cockpit and tearing off part of a wing. The plane that had landed described the collision as 'stopped, jerked, and jumped to the right'. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) sent a team of 10 investigators to the airport to review the incident. Flight recorders from both airplanes were recovered and sent to the NTSB for analysis. Delta Air Lines has stated that they will work with authorities to review the incident, prioritizing customer and employee safety.
The collision, though low-speed, caused significant damage to the aircraft and injured a crew member. The exact cause of the incident is still under investigation by the NTSB. Delta Air Lines has assured that they are committed to ensuring the safety of their passengers and employees.
