As the city of Wiesbaden undergoes various infrastructure projects, commuters and visitors should be aware of ongoing road closures, traffic trials, and specific detour measures affecting several key roads. This article provides an overview of the current traffic situations on A66, Gustav-Stresemann-Ring, Kaiser-Friedrich-Ring, Biebricher Allee, Theodor-Heuss-Ring, and Siegfriedring.

Gustav-Stresemann-Ring

An ongoing closure on Gustav-Stresemann-Ring, starting around August 18, 2025, affects multiple bus lines and necessitates an updated detour system. The closure also impacts bicycle and pedestrian traffic, with an alternative route signposted. An auxiliary lane between Wittelsbacherstraße and Wettinerstraße serves as an alternative detour, although it's less efficient due to its width and one-way street regulation. It's important to note that this detour is not suitable for trucks over 3.5 tons.

Biebricher Allee and Rheingaustraße (Biebrich area)

A traffic trial is active on selected weekends in August 2025, restricting motorized vehicle access on Rheingaustraße in front of Biebrich Palace, reserving it for bicycle traffic only. Residents and authorized vehicles have access via Rathausstraße under the "Anlieger frei" rule.

No specific current closures or detours were reported for these roads. However, with ongoing works or events that affect central Wiesbaden streets, minor traffic disruptions or detours might be expected locally. Checking local traffic updates or the Wiesbaden public transport site ESWE Verkehr is advisable for real-time information.

Alternative routes and recommendations:

  • For Gustav-Stresemann-Ring closures, ESWE Verkehr provides updated detour routes for affected bus lines, implying vehicle users should follow posted signs and public transport reroutes during this period.
  • Around the traffic trial on Rheingaustraße, vehicles should access the Biebrich residential areas from Rathausstraße only; alternative car routes should circumvent the closed bicycle-only sections.
  • Use of public transportation supported by ESWE Verkehr may help avoid individual vehicle detours, given detailed network maps and route planning tools are available on their website.

The city recommends avoiding the closed area if the driving destinations are not in the immediate vicinity, or using public transportation. One lane on the main carriageway of the Gustav-Stresemann-Ring is expected to be available for traffic again from September.

An alternative route for the A66 is signposted on the Kaiser-Friedrich-Ring and Biebricher Allee. The construction site on Welfenstraße will be completed in time for the start of the holidays, making the school centers in Brunhildenstraße easily accessible.

The city asks for understanding regarding the ongoing traffic disruptions due to the works.

For the latest detailed traffic detours and alternative routes, referring directly to ESWE Verkehr’s website and Wiesbaden city traffic updates is recommended, especially since some closures are temporary or tied to specific events and school schedules.

  1. The ongoing closure on Gustav-Stresemann-Ring, which begins around August 18, 2025, not only impacts bus lines but also necessitates an updated detour system for other modes of transportation, including finance, such as taxis, and transportation like trucks.
  2. In the Biebricher Allee and Rheingaustraße area, a traffic trial restricts motorized vehicle access during selected weekends in August 2025, affecting transportation and shifts focus towards alternative modes like bicycles, which is a part of the city's initiative to promote sustainable finance and transportation.
