Customs Seize Opel Kadett: Driver Fined for Lacking Papers

Customs officers from Lindau intercepted a Swiss Opel Kadett 1200 S on the A96 near Neuravensburg. The driver, a 54-year-old man, was fined for lacking the necessary customs papers. The Kadett was being transported on a trailer, destined for Germany to receive new axles. The plan was to convert it into a racing car in Switzerland. However, the driver was unable to present the required customs documents, leading to a fine of approximately 480 euros. After paying the penalty, the driver was permitted to continue his journey. Hagen Kohlmann, press spokesperson for the Hauptzollamt Ulm, can be contacted for further information. His phone number is 0731-9648-10009 and email is [email protected]. The incident serves as a reminder for drivers to ensure they have the correct customs papers when transporting vehicles across borders. The driver's failure to do so resulted in a substantial fine, but he was allowed to proceed after payment.
