In a recent development, the Ulm Main Customs Office has confirmed that a significant cash sum, over 107,000 euros, was discovered on a couple at Friedrichshafen Airport. The couple, who intended to emigrate to Serbia, were stopped by customs officials during their journey to Belgrade.
According to Sarah Mayer, the contact person for media inquiries at the Ulm Main Customs Office, the couple initially stated they had 20,000 euros. However, subsequent inspection revealed a higher amount. No valid cash declaration was presented by the couple, prompting further investigation.
One member of the couple is a 70-year-old Serbian national with a German residence permit, while the other is a German national, whose name was not disclosed due to privacy reasons. Upon questioning, the woman stated that the accumulated cash was from savings.
After paying the security deposit set by Wangen District Court, which amounted to 28,140 euros, the couple was allowed to continue their journey. The Ulm Main Customs Office was involved in this incident, ensuring that the necessary procedures were followed.
