Road Maintenance Projects Update in Kenton and Campbell Counties

In the heart of August, several road maintenance projects are underway in Kenton and Campbell counties, aiming to improve the condition of key routes. Here's a rundown of the current status of the projects on Madison Pike (KY 17), Dixie Highway (U.S. 25), and Alexandria Pike (U.S. 27).

Madison Pike (KY 17), Kenton County

Paving work is complete from Moffett Road (KY 2042) at mile point 7.97 to just north of KY 14 at mile point 4.94. The final task, installing rumble strips, is yet to be scheduled. Crack sealing and electrical work are finished. A nearby section of Old Hands Pike/Waymans Branch Road (KY 3716) between Madison Pike and Misty Lane is closed 24/7 for about two months due to a Sanitary District 1 sewer project, with a signed detour using KY 17 and KY 1501 (Hands Pike) to Madison Pike for access to businesses. This closure is expected to last until mid-October 2025.

Dixie Highway (U.S. 25), Kenton County

Paving work began on Sunday, August 17, 2025, from Hallam Avenue at mile point 6.26 to Carran Drive at mile point 7.88. Nightly single lane closures are in effect from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., with one lane in each direction maintained at all times. The work is expected to complete by Friday, August 22, weather permitting.

Alexandria Pike (U.S. 27), Campbell County

Paving is scheduled for Wednesday, August 20, and Friday, August 22, from Bluegrass Avenue at mile point 20.49 to Moock Road (KY 1632) at mile point 19.84. Lane closures will be in effect from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., maintaining one lane in each direction. Following paving, once the new bridge is finished, the detour will be removed, and traffic will reopen. The overall project, including pavement repairs, resurfacing, drainage, erosion control, guardrail updates, bridge maintenance, and cross slope corrections, is expected to be completed by October 2025.

Motorists in all areas are encouraged to follow posted signage and exercise caution due to lane closures, detours, and ongoing work. Nighttime work is being used on busier routes to minimise traffic disruptions.

In summary, Madison Pike paving is complete with rumble strips pending, Dixie Highway paving is underway with nightly lane closures through Aug 22, and Alexandria Pike paving is scheduled for Aug 20 and 22 with the full project finishing by October 2025. The nearby road closure on Old Hands Pike for a sewer project will affect access around Madison Pike in Kenton County until October.
