Chevy Suburban from 2025, Purchased Only Three Days Ago, Fleeting Safety Concerns: unreliable brakes encountered in traffic, dealership neglected to address a prior recall before sale.

Chevy Suburban Purchased in 2025 Faces mechanical Issues: Brakes malfunctioned on a 3-day old vehicle, and the dealership reportedly sold the vehicle with an active recall.

Just a month after experiencing a tragic T-bone accident that totaled her previous Suburban, @upholsterygirl found herself in another harrowing situation with her brand-new 2025 Chevrolet Suburban. Despite undergoing repairs, the vehicle's braking system failed, causing it to not stop during a test drive.

The car, which had been sold by a Chevrolet dealership, required initial repairs involving the replacement of the vacuum pump, brake booster, brake hose, and four other components. However, the issues persisted, with the brakes still failing to function correctly.

It was later discovered that the Suburban was not part of an open recall for the braking system, but General Motors has not fixed the issues in some 2025 model-year vehicles. The 2023 and 2024 Chevrolet Suburban, along with other models such as the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado, 2023-2024 Chevrolet Tahoe, and specific Cadillac and GMC vehicles, have a recall related to the brakes due to a potential issue with the brake fluid loss detection system.

Moreover, there is an ongoing recall involving 2023-2024 Chevrolet Suburban models related to the electronic brake control system. Certain 2023-2024 Chevrolet Suburban vehicles may experience an issue where the electronic brake control module software fails to display a warning light when there is a loss of brake fluid. This malfunction can reduce braking performance and increase the risk of a crash. GM is addressing this by updating the software via an over-the-air update or at dealerships free of charge, with owner notification expected around October 2024.

The complexity of brake system software and sensors means that software updates or sensor replacements may not fully resolve all symptoms initially, especially if damage has occurred prior to repair or if the update does not address all failure modes. Owners who continue experiencing brake issues after recall repairs are advised to contact Chevrolet customer service or dealership for further diagnostics.

@upholsterygirl expresses immense frustration and fear, stating that these issues should not happen with a brand-new vehicle. She questions why Chevrolet's quality seems to be worsening with newer vehicles. The owner's emotional journey was a rollercoaster of anger, fear, and sadness, especially given the vehicle's newness.

Chevrolet customers facing similar issues are encouraged to take their vehicles to the dealership for a thorough inspection of the braking system. For immediate assistance, the Chevrolet customer service line is available at 1-800-222-1020. It would be advisable for 2025 Suburban owners to take their vehicles to the Chevrolet dealer and have them inspect the brake system as soon as possible.

  1. In light of her two distressing incidents with her recent Chevrolet Suburban, @upholsterygirl suggests that the automotive industry should thoroughly examine the finance and quality assurance practices within the transportation sector, as these issues should not occur with brand-new vehicles.
  2. As multiple recalls have been issued for the braking system in various Chevrolet models, such as the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado, 2023-2024 Chevrolet Tahoe, and specific Cadillac and GMC vehicles, sports enthusiasts drive with apprehension, hoping that General Motors swiftly resolves the issues to ensure a safe driving experience during their competitive events.
