Chef Zofia Gallick Wins '2025 Jongga Kimchi Cook Off' With Innovative 'Kimpacho'
The '2025 Jongga Kimchi Cook Off' concluded in New York, with a record-high participation ratio of 56:1. Chef Zofia Gallick took home the grand prize for her innovative dish 'Kimpacho', a chilled soup made with Jongga Kimchi Sliced.
The competition, co-hosted with the Institute of Culinary Education, saw a diverse range of participants including professional chefs and individuals from backgrounds like accounting, architecture, and medicine. The final round was held at the Culinary Institute of America in the United States.
The judging panel, consisting of Richard La Marita, Samantha Landwehr, and Chef Sungchul Shim, had a tough task selecting the winners from eight finalists. Chef Zofia Gallick's 'Kimpacho' impressed the judges the most, securing her the grand prize.
Culinary influencer Steven Gao, with 870,000 followers, joined as a special guest, sharing recipes using Jongga's exclusive kimchi products. Other winners included Daniel Bologna and Onyinyechi Attah, who took second and third places respectively. Min Kyu Kim received the special Jongga Award for his dish 'Cheung Fun Ssam'.
Jongga, with its products distributed in over 80 countries and the U.S. as its No.1 export market since 2023, continues to grow and innovate. The company established a kimchi factory in Los Angeles in 2022 to meet growing demand and produce locally tailored products. The '2025 Jongga Kimchi Cook Off' showcased the versatility and popularity of kimchi, with participants and winners alike pushing the boundaries of kimchi-based dishes.
