Cargo protection urged by Polish law enforcement

The Police Inspectorate Hameln-Pyrmont/Holzminden has issued an appeal to farmers and contract farming companies, urging them to prioritise road safety during the corn harvest season. With increased agricultural business traffic on public roads, the Inspectorate is drawing attention to the importance of properly securing loads of corn silage.

Oliver Busche, head of operations at the Police Inspectorate, emphasises the significance of this issue. "Properly securing loads is crucial for road safety and can help avoid fines and accidents," he said.

Unsecured or insufficiently secured loads of corn silage can fall off vehicles during transport, posing a serious risk to other road users. Such incidents can result in fines, and if other road users are endangered, higher fines and possibly criminal consequences may apply.

The Inspectorate's appeal is a recognition of the indispensable role farmers and contract farming companies play in the region, particularly in supply and energy generation through biogas plants. The Inspectorate thanks them for their contributions and wishes them a successful and accident-free harvest season.

The Inspectorate is reminding farmers and contract farming companies of the potential consequences of improperly securing loads of corn silage, including fines and potential accidents. A violation of load securing regulations can result in a fine, and in some cases, a point in Flensburg.

The Inspectorate's appeal is aimed at ensuring the safety of all road users during the corn harvest season. It emphasises the importance of farmers' and contract farming companies' responsibility in maintaining road safety. The Inspectorate's appeal is a call for cooperation between farmers, contract farming companies, and the police to ensure road safety during the corn harvest season.

For further information, the Police Inspectorate's press office can be contacted at Stefanie Ockenfeld, telephone: 05151/ 933-104, and email: [email protected]. The Inspectorate acknowledges the time pressure and challenges faced by farmers during the busy corn harvest season and encourages everyone to prioritise safety.
