Canada Boosts Citizenship Fee to $649.75
As of April 1, 2025, the fee for Canadian citizenship has increased. Adult applicants will now pay $649.75, up from the previous $530, including the processing fee. This change affects those applying for Canadian immigration on or after this date.
The new fee structure breaks down to $119.75 for the right of Canadian citizenship, up from the previous $100. The processing fee remains $530. Minors under 18 are still required to pay only a $100 processing fee.
Stateless adults born to a Canadian parent are also subject to the increased fee. The change took effect at midnight on March 31, 2025. Those who applied and paid the old fee before this date will not be affected.
The current processing time for Canadian immigration applications is approximately eight months.
Applicants should note the new fee structure when planning their Canadian immigration applications. The increased fee is part of a larger effort to modernize Canada's citizenship program and improve services.
