Caldera and EigenCloud join forces for the integration of the updated version of EigenDA

Caldera, a leading San Francisco-based provider of rollup infrastructure solutions, has announced a strategic partnership with EigenCloud. The partnership aims to integrate EigenCloud's next-generation data availability (DA) solution, EigenDA V2, into Caldera's rollup engine.

EigenDA V2 is a data availability protocol for blockchain rollups that is currently live on the Ethereum mainnet. It offers an industry-leading data throughput of 100 MB/s, surpassing traditional limits such as Ethereum Layer 1 and even Visa’s peak transaction capacity by over twelve times. This high throughput is enabled by a redesigned node architecture that separates control and data processes, reducing overhead and allowing permissionless, efficient data dispersal among validators. EigenDA V2 uses a custom-built database called LittDB to handle continuous heavy data loads without bottlenecks.

The integration of EigenDA V2 will unlock a data throughput capability of 100 MB/s for blockchain rollups built on Caldera's platform. This partnership addresses the challenge of efficient data availability in blockchain rollups, offering several key advantages:

  1. High scalability: The 100 MB/s throughput drastically boosts rollup performance, enabling them to scale without sacrificing speed or decentralization.
  2. Cost efficiency: By providing a dedicated data availability layer outside Ethereum’s often costly Layer 1, EigenDA helps reduce rollup data posting expenses.
  3. Security: Leveraging Ethereum’s decentralization and EigenLayer’s restaked ETH and tokens for security means strong guarantees without needing a separate consensus mechanism.
  4. Guaranteed bandwidth: Data reservations offer predictable, enterprise-grade bandwidth for demanding use cases like payments and fintech applications.

The EigenDA V2 integration will be available as a one-click option within the Caldera dashboard for new rollup deployments. Existing Caldera chains may also elect to switch to EigenDA V2. This integration fundamentally transforms blockchain rollups’ scalability and performance, supporting real-world production traffic and enabling applications from payments, fintech, and other industries to operate at scale without compromising security or decentralization.
