Bus service expansion in Santa Martha - Chalco successfully completed over 213 thousand trips within its initial week: STE; commuters experienced reduced transit times.
In its inaugural week of operation, the Electric Transport Service (STE) reports a robust turnout for Line 11 of the Trolleybus, which connects Santa Martha and Chalco, with a staggering 213,870 passenger trips recorded between the State of Mexico and Mexico City.
This newly launched Trolleybus, operating since May 18, provides commuters a 40-minute journey between the Chalco terminal and the Santa Martha Modal Transfer Center. The fare for this service is 13 pesos, payable only via the Integrated Mobility Card.
Users can access the service with their Integrated Mobility Card, which will remain valid until May 2025.
Notably, the introduction of this Trolleybus line fosters intermodality by linking up with other key systems of the Integrated Mobility Network, such as the Metro, Cablebus, Passenger Transport Network, Elevated Trolleybus, and local concessionaire transport in the area.
The expanded system has enabled residents from both entities to cut down travel times and enjoy a more comfortable, safe, eco-friendly, and modern mode of transportation, as stated by the system.
Additionally, the trolleybus facilitates easy access for those using wheelchairs.
Meanwhile, the city of Mexico faces an ongoing Yellow Alert, thanks to continuous heavy rain and hail, with the weather conditions expected to persist until dawn.
