Boom in tourism favors Tui's growth

In a significant turnaround for the travel industry, TUI, the global travel conglomerate, has announced its best quarterly result since 2014. The company's strong performance can be attributed to record results in the cruise segment, solid earnings in the Hotels & Resorts division, and a robust performance in the Markets + Airline segment.

Cruise Revenues Soar as Demand Remains High

The cruise segment, which includes TUI Cruises, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, and Marella Cruises, achieved a record result. Revenues increased by 57% compared to the previous year, driven by high demand in Germany and Great Britain. Two new ships, a 33% increase in capacity, and a fully utilized fleet supported these results.

Stable Earnings in Hotels & Resorts Division

The Hotels & Resorts division maintained stable profits with an 82% capacity utilization rate. The Riu, TUI Blue, and Robinson Clubs hotel brands reached record levels, contributing to the division's earnings.

Improved Markets + Airline Performance

The Markets + Airline segment benefited from the Easter business being postponed from the second to the third quarter, raising adjusted EBIT to €50 million.

Holiday Experiences Segment Drives Growth

The "Holiday Experiences" segment, including TUI's own hotels and cruises, was the main driver of the improved results. The segment contributed significantly to the 38% increase in adjusted operating profit (EBIT) to €321 million in Q3 2025. Group revenue grew by 7% to €6.2 billion in the same period.

Late Bookings and Weather Impact Summer Business

Regarding the company's summer business in 2025, TUI reported a continued trend towards late bookings for the summer months of July and August. This trend was partly attributed to hot weather in their source markets. Despite this, the company noted a positive start to bookings for the winter 2025/26 season.

TUI Served 5.9 Million Guests in Q3 2025

TUI served 5.9 million guests in the third quarter, slightly fewer than in the same period in 2019. The company has slightly increased its flight and hotel capacities for the winter season, indicating a focus on meeting the growing demand.

Looking Forward: A Very Positive Start to the 2022/23 Winter Season

With the recent heatwaves leading to more customers choosing trips in September or October, and customers paying more attention to weather conditions and geopolitical developments such as the conflict in the Middle East, TUI is optimistic about the upcoming winter season. The company expects the start of the 2022/23 winter season to be "very positive."
