Blockchain development company, Bloctopus (originally known as LZero), secures a $1 million pre-seed funding round, aiming to revolutionize the blockchain sector.

Blockchain development company Bloctopus (previously known as LZero) receives a $1 million pre-seed investment to revolutionize its blockchain technology.

Bloctopus, a developer tool that creates on-demand blockchain sandboxes, has successfully raised a $1 million pre-seed investment. The funding round was led by Hivemind Capital, with participation from Techstars, IronKey Capital, and angel investors including founders from Brevan Howard, Quantstamp, Cred Protocol, Nexus Network, and Airside Labs.

Founded by University of Southampton graduate Til Jordan and co-founder Anisha Goel, Bloctopus has gained significant traction since launching at EthDenver. The tool has collaborated with industry-leading entities such as the Ethereum Foundation, LayerZero, Kurtosis, Offchain Labs, Coreum, and SSV Network.

Bloctopus aims to eliminate DevOps overhead for seamless cross-chain development. It streamlines the setup of complex development environments by offering highly realistic, configurable testnets as a cloud-based service. With Bloctopus, developers can spin up realistic test networks simulating mainnet data with distributed nodes, closely mimicking actual blockchain conditions.

The tool also provides a scalable and cloud-based infrastructure capable of emulating thousands of nodes and transactions simultaneously. Developers can customize node-level configurations and integrate numerous external blockchain tools and services. Bloctopus handles the complexity of multiple blockchains, token standards, and hundreds of protocol parameters without manual setup.

Emmanuel Vallod, Partner and Head of Ventures at Hivemind Capital, believes Bloctopus is solving a structural gap in blockchain development platforms. "Bloctopus is addressing a critical need in the blockchain development ecosystem by providing a streamlined solution for setting up and managing complex development environments," said Vallod.

Til Jordan, co-founder and CTO of Bloctopus, stated that they are looking forward to growing their capabilities, offering, and customer base. "We are excited to use this funding to further develop our technology and expand our team," said Jordan.

Dr Alice Iles, Head of Tech Acceleration at the University of Southampton, is proud of Til Jordan's journey and the rapid progress made by the Bloctopus team. The University of Southampton's website team offers support for researchers and students who want to create startups at any stage of the process.

Bloctopus has successfully completed both the our website and Techstars accelerator programs. It has launched an early version of its tool, simulating cross-chain message transfers under real mainnet conditions with LayerZero. Bloctopus v1 is live and free for use. The technology has been rated the #1 web3 product on Product Hunt.
