Binance Smart Chain Slashes Gas Fees by 90% to Maintain Ultra-Low-Cost Environment
Binance Smart Chain (BSC) has initiated its third gas cut since April 2024, further solidifying its commitment to maintaining an ultra-low-cost environment for users and traders. This move comes amidst BSC's growing dominance in the crypto market, driven by traders favoring it over Ethereum for high-frequency, low-cost on-chain activities.
BSC's latest gas fee reduction aims to slash fees by 90% or more, following a previous 98% cut that brought the minimum gas price down to 0.05 Gwei. This reduction has significantly lowered transaction costs to approximately $0.005, enhancing BSC's competitiveness and network growth.
By the end of June 2025, swap activity had surged, accounting for 67% of total transactions. Meanwhile, Solana maintained its throughput supremacy with 28.5 billion transactions. However, BSC closed Q3 2025 with an impressive 1.5 billion transactions, outpacing Ethereum's 144.5 million by more than tenfold.
Historically, gas cuts have fueled on-chain adoption, with median fees dropping by 75% and daily transactions increasing by 140%. BNB, the native token of BSC, has also performed exceptionally well, closing Q3 2025 with a 50%+ ROI and setting new all-time highs three times consecutively to reach $1,083.
BSC's core developers are now targeting an even more aggressive gas fee cut of 90% or more from historical levels in Q4 2025. The new fee plan, with a base fee of 0.05 Gwei, makes transactions as low as $0.005 each, positioning BSC as one of the cheapest networks in crypto. These strategic moves are expected to further boost BSC's competitiveness and drive network growth.
