In the small town of Bispingen, a significant change has taken place as Stephan Müller, spokesperson for the Unsynn citizen initiative, has stepped down from his position. Müller's resignation comes amidst ongoing debates about a proposed new railway line from Hamburg to Hannover, a project that has been a goal for three decades.

Müller's resignation was due to the heavy burden of voluntary work, as he expressed in his statement. Despite this, he plans to continue his engagement in the initiative on a regional level.

The proposed railway project has sparked concerns among local entrepreneurs, who fear the demolition of businesses such as Schumacher's Kartcenter, McDonald's, a gas station, arcade, and KFC, among others. These businesses are apprehensive about surviving the multi-year construction period.

The mayor of Bispingen, Dr. Jens Bülthuis, attended an exchange in Berlin and stated that future meetings might not be held if the route goes through Horstfeld, as Schumacher's Kartcenter would have to be relocated.

Udo Schiefner, Chairman of the Federal Transport Committee, will visit Schumacher's Kartcenter on July 11 to discuss concerns about Deutsche Bahn's plans for an ICE long-distance route between Hamburg and Hannover with business owners, local politicians, and citizen representatives.

Stephan Müller has criticized DB Netz AG for providing incorrect information in previous procedures and working in a non-transparent manner. He has called for visible and audible citizen protest against the new plans, but noted that the protest is not directed against Udo Schiefner.

The Bundestag is expected to decide on the route in the second half of the year after the specialist committee has discussed it. Müller expects consultations on the route variants, including a currently unnamed preferred variant, to be dealt with by the Bundestag in the first half of 2024.

In a bid to keep the citizens informed, Müller has called for the council and municipality to organize a public information event for the citizens, using the municipality of Seevetal as a model.

The goal of the railway has been a new construction line from Hamburg to Hannover for 30 years, according to Müller. However, the Plan Acceleration Act, due to be decided in the Bundestag in the fall, includes speeds of 300 km/h, which would only be possible on a newly built route, potentially rendering the negotiated compromise of the Schiene Nord dialogue forum for an expansion of the existing route null and void.

The search results do not provide information about who presented themselves as the successor to Stephan Müller as spokesperson of the Bürgerinitiative Unsynn on Monday, July 11, in Bispingen. Christian Deppner of the citizens' initiative X through Y in Brackel is disappointed that Müller is stepping down as spokesperson. Lara Abels from Hützel has been won as a supporter for the work on social media.

Around 25 people attended the council meeting in Bispingen, but Müller expected around 150 members of the Unsynn citizen initiative. The Federal Ministry, according to Müller, supports both the general renovation of existing routes and a new construction to achieve the Germany-wide timetable.

As the debate continues, the citizens of Bispingen and the surrounding areas await decisions from the Bundestag and the specialist committee, hoping for a solution that balances economic growth with the preservation of their local businesses and community.
