Bechtle Shifts Focus to Public Sector for Second Half Growth

Bechtle is now progressing towards achieving its yearly objectives

Bechtle, the German IT services and solutions provider, is gearing up for growth in the second half of 2025, with a strong emphasis on expanding business with public sector clients. This strategy, aimed at driving growth, is built on the back of recently secured framework agreements and a growing demand in the German public sector.

The company expects accelerated growth after summer, with large-scale tenders such as a nationwide public-sector contract for low-code platform licenses and implementation services valued at around €450 million over four years, set to enhance its digitalisation offerings to government entities across federal, state, and local levels.

This move towards low-code platforms will support scalable digital transformation with IT security and accessibility compliance, enabling administrative workflow optimisation without extensive programming.

In terms of leadership, Christian Jehle has taken over as the new CFO, guiding the company through these growth efforts amid cautious profit forecasts. Jehle, joining from competitor Computacenter, is expected to steer the financial strategy to support growth, aiming to close the profit gap while executing the public sector expansion.

Despite lower pre-tax profits for the first half of the year, Bechtle is optimistic about closing the earnings gap by year-end while continuing to invest in growth areas like public sector digital transformation.

CEO Thomas Olemotz, who will not renew his contract, which expires at the end of 2026, believes that Bechtle is back on track for growth, with growth expected in the second quarter. Olemotz stated that the trend is positive, citing July as an example, and aims to not only reduce but close the gap created in the first half of the year by the end of the year.

For the full year, Bechtle aims for a 5% increase in revenue and stable sales. Sales increased by 0.8% to €1.49 billion, while revenue, including software sales, rose by 5% to €1.93 billion. Despite the EBIT for the second quarter being 20% below the previous year's level at €66.8 million, Olemotz remains optimistic, with the stock price increasing by up to 12% following the second quarter numbers.

Olemotz believes that achieving this ambitious growth goal is possible and has expressed his confidence in the younger generation, stating it's time for them to take the reins. He will serve on the board for 20 years before stepping down at the end of 2026.
