Bath Council Extends Consultation on Major Cycling & Pedestrian Scheme
Bath & North East Somerset Council has extended a public consultation on a major scheme to improve walking, wheeling, and cycling links in Bath. The Bath Walking, Wheeling and Cycling Links (BWWCL) scheme aims to create over 6.2km of new cycling routes and upgrade pedestrian crossings. The consultation, initially launched in mid-October, has received a large number of responses and will now run until Monday 2nd December.
The BWWCL scheme consists of four routes, designed to enhance active travel options across Bath. It is part of the City Region Sustainable Transport Settlements (CRSTS) programme, which aims to connect key areas within Bath through a network of dedicated cycle lanes and improved pedestrian paths. The scheme will also provide significant walking and wheeling improvements, including upgraded crossings and safer options. Councillor Joanna Wright announced the extension of the consultation, inviting more people to share their views on the proposed cycleway.
The extended consultation period allows more residents and stakeholders to contribute their thoughts on the BWWCL scheme. The scheme, if approved, promises to significantly improve active travel options in Bath, making it safer and more accessible for pedestrians and cyclists.
