Banker Arrested for 50M Ruble Car Fraud Scheme
A 34-year-old bank employee in Krasnodar has been arrested for an elaborate fraud scheme involving pawned cars. The suspect, who remains unnamed, defrauded over 20 people of more than 50 million rubles by failing to return loans and pay interest.
The suspect's plan involved buying cars, including Fords, at low prices and selling them at high prices to make a quick profit. To fund this scheme, he involved investors, promising to pay them interest on their investments through PayPal. However, he did not intend to honour these promises.
One of the victims, an investor from Kuban, lost a staggering 27.5 million rubles. Despite extensive searches, the victim's identity remains unknown. The suspect now faces up to 10 years in prison for his actions.
A criminal case has been opened against the banker under the charge of 'Fraud'. The investigation is ongoing, and more details may emerge in the coming days.
