Bank recognized as top choice for diversity and inclusivity in the financial sector by Euromoney awards
Mutual Trust Bank Leads in Women's Empowerment and Inclusion
Mutual Trust Bank PLC (MTB) has once again been recognised as Bangladesh's Best Bank for Diversity and Inclusion, receiving the Euromoney award for the fourth consecutive year in 2025 [1]. This recognition is a testament to MTB's commitment to promoting gender diversity and women's empowerment.
In 2024, MTB introduced the Shreya platform to support its female employees. This initiative led to progressive policy reforms, such as the introduction of miscarriage leave and the establishment of stronger grievance redressal mechanisms [1]. The Shreya platform has helped over 800 female employees through career development programs and gender equity initiatives.
MTB's Board of Directors continues to demonstrate leadership commitment to gender diversity, with 25% female representation [1]. This is significantly higher than the industry average of 13.61%.
Beyond urban initiatives, MTB has been extending credit to farmers and women entrepreneurs under inclusive loan schemes. Through partnerships like the Swanirbhar Angona Project with Speed and Creative IT, MTB empowers women in teaching and digital marketing fields [1].
The bank's rural and regional development efforts have been particularly successful. In 2024, MTB expanded Agent Banking operations to 184 centres and ran 267 rural awareness programs on financial literacy [1]. These initiatives resulted in a 35.1% increase in women customers and a 65.1% rise in deposits under the MTB Angona platform.
MTB's dedication to advancing diversity-focused leadership is further underscored by the consecutive Euromoney awards for diversity and inclusion. The bank is driving meaningful change through innovation and digital transformation, reinforcing its broader vision of inclusive growth.
