Brian Lawlor, the President of the E. W. Scripps Company’s Scripps Sports division, has been announced as the recipient of the 2025 Golden Mic Award by the Broadcasters Foundation of America (Bfoa).

Lawlor, a board member of the Bfoa, is recognised for his leadership in national programming strategy at Scripps, including the launch of shows such as Right This Minute and The List. His tenure at Scripps Sports has seen significant deals involving the National Women’s Soccer League and the Women’s National Basketball Association, expanding the reach of both leagues through over-the-air and streaming television.

During his 14-year tenure as the leader of the Scripps Local Media division, the number of local TV stations under the Scripps umbrella grew from 10 to 61. Lawlor took on the role of President of Scripps Sports in December 2022.

The Broadcasters Foundation is the only charity devoted exclusively to helping broadcasters in need from illness or tragedy. The organisation is delighted to bestow the Golden Mic Award on Brian Lawlor, an individual who has demonstrated excellence in and commitment to broadcasting, and ongoing service to the community at large.

Brian Lawlor has been highly respected in the television broadcasting community for many years. In 2011, he was named Broadcaster of the Year by B+C, and in 2020, he was named "Broadcast Television's Best Leader" by Radio Television Business Report.
