Automaker Volkswagen is halting production!

In a recent development, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has announced a temporary production halt at its Hannover plant during the Lower Saxony autumn holidays, from October 13 to 25. This decision comes amidst a weakening market in Europe for light commercial vehicles.

The production stop is primarily due to insufficient demand for the E-Bulli ID Buzz and the Multivan. However, the fully electric ID Buzz has seen a significant increase in sales, with almost 70 percent more vehicles delivered in the first half of 2025 compared to the same period last year.

Despite this positive trend for electric models, the overall market for electric vehicles is growing slower than expected, contributing to the decline in overall sales for Volkswagen. The brand is intensifying its sales activities to set targeted impulses in the markets and support market development.

Volkswagen collaborates closely with selected dealership partners, providing them with digitally supported, customizable online sales platforms like the Financing Store. This partnership aims to increase market share, support market development, and strengthen their position in competitive markets, particularly for electric vehicles and small electric vans starting from 2026.

The temporary production halt is designed to create flexibility in production planning to adapt to the changing market demand. The shutdown days will be offset against the overtime accounts of the employees.

In the first half of 2025, Volkswagen delivered around 224,000 vehicles worldwide, a decrease from 231,000 in the previous year. Despite the decrease in overall sales, the operating profit for the company was 207 million euros, a significant decrease from 635 million euros in the previous year. The revenue for the same period was 8.7 billion euros, up from 8.1 billion euros in the previous year.

Volkswagen expects the competitive situation in the markets to continue in the coming months. The company urges customers to take advantage of the current market conditions and explore the range of electric vehicles available, such as the ID Buzz and the Multivan.

It's worth noting that there is a free test drive offer for the Kia EV6 GT-line electric crossover, but this is not directly related to Volkswagen.

As always, Volkswagen remains committed to delivering high-quality, sustainable vehicles and providing excellent customer service. The company continues to invest in digital integration and efficient sales processes to stay competitive in the ever-evolving automotive market.
