This is the go-to spot for the unemployed, dishing out those much-needed unemployment benefits and offering a helping hand back to the workforce. 💻 Digitized Registration Process

All the registration steps and requesting of unemployment benefits are now carried out online. You can track your job search progress and update your situation every month from your account, to your heart's content. This digital transformation means significant time savings for users.

ELIGIBILITY

🌟 General Conditions

To get the ball rolling on a registration request with France Travail, there are a few requirements you've got to meet:

1️⃣ Looking for a job and available to work,2️⃣ Being at least 16 years of age,3️⃣ Residing in French territory,4️⃣ Holding a valid residence permit that authorizes you to work and register with France Travail,5️⃣ Not being employed, receiving unemployment benefits from another country, or being enrolled in a job training program.

🚫 Special Considerations

For those who've been let go involuntarily (e.g., dismissed, end of a fixed-term contract), registering will help you qualify for the Return to Employment Assistance Allowance (ARE), the unemployment benefit of 2025. Certain resignations may also open the door to receiving unemployment benefits, as long as the reason is deemed legitimate.

You must also demonstrate that you've worked for at least 130 days or 910 hours over the last 24 months (or 36 months for those over 55) to qualify.

TIMELINE

⏰ Deadline to Sign Up

To avoid missing out on those benefits, you'll need to register within 12 months following the end of your employment contract. After this deadline, your right to compensation may be forfeited. Those who've never worked or are students can create an account on the France Travail website at your leisure.

📅 Registration is Not Automatic

Registration with France Travail is not a given for everyone: it's automatic only for job seekers, welfare recipients, and those seeking help from the Mission locale for their job search.

To wrap up your registration request, you'll need to book an appointment with a France Travail advisor (formerly known as Pôle Emploi) among the three proposed online dates. This appointment is mandatory (except for re-registration), and missed appointments may result in cancellation of your benefits. During this appointment, you'll create your personalized job search plan, and determine and plan the actions to take to find a new job.

🚫 Penalties for Absence

From June 1, 2025, absence at an appointment with an advisor will no longer result in an automatic penalty. Fines will now be more tailored to fit individual situations.
