Rodatherm Energy Corporation Secures $38 Million Investment for Revolutionary Geothermal Technology

Rodatherm Energy Corporation, a Canadian geothermal company, has announced a significant investment of $38 million. This investment was provided by TDK Ventures, the corporate venture-capital subsidiary of TDK Corporation.

The investment is aimed at delivering affordable, long-term, sustainable energy through Rodatherm's innovative closed-loop geothermal system, known as the AGS system. This system is engineered to run for decades with minimal maintenance and operates without drilling or water, using a sealed loop to harvest heat from sedimentary basins.

The AGS system is optimized for sedimentary basins and delivers 50 percent higher efficiency than conventional binary-cycle geothermal systems, using five times less fluid. It achieves this by extracting heat through conduction and convection into an isolated working fluid, which is then transferred directly into a turbine for power generation.

The AGS system is entirely closed-loop and fully cased, eliminating the need for drilling. It also does not use fresh water and has a small, energy-dense surface footprint. The new working fluid used in the system remains fully isolated from the ground, ensuring environmental safety.

Rodatherm Energy Corporation will use the funds to build its first pilot system in Utah. The pilot system will be used to validate the system's cost-efficiency, deploy it within CapEx and OpEx projections, and energy conversion performance.

Nicolas Sauvage, TDK Ventures president, stated that the investment was made to support transformative technologies addressing global challenges, including the urgent need for clean and affordable energy. He expressed his confidence in Rodatherm Energy Corporation's ability to deliver on its promise of a sustainable and efficient energy solution.

The AGS system's potential to revolutionize the geothermal energy industry is promising. With this investment, Rodatherm Energy Corporation is one step closer to bringing its innovative technology to the forefront of clean energy solutions.
