Alteration of Tram Routes 6 and 8 in the City of Bremen
In the week commencing September 30, 2021, construction works on tram line 6 in the city of Bremen were scheduled to take place. The works were set to last from around 3 AM on Monday, September 30, to 6 AM on Sunday, October 6.
During this period, tram line 6 will only operate between the airport and Brahmsstraße. The line will be diverted to Kulenkampffallee, with stops at Kesselkorb, Herdentor, Hauptbahnhof, Hauptbahnhof-Nord/Messe, Am Stern, Bulthauptstraße, Crüzemannallee, Busestraße, and Kulenkampffallee in both directions. However, it will not go through the stops of Kesselkorb, Herdentor, Hauptbahnhof, Hauptbahnhof-Nord/Messe, Am Stern, Bulthauptstraße, Crüzemannallee, Busestraße, and Kulenkampffallee in both directions.
In lieu of the regular service, a replacement bus service (line 6E) will be established. This service will operate between Kulenkampffallee and Universität-Nord, serving the stops Kulenkampffallee, Parkallee, Munte, Wiener Straße, Universität-Süd, Universität/Zentralbereich, and Universität-Nord in both directions. The replacement buses of line 6E will not serve the stops between Kesselkorb and Brahmsstraße, which are normally served by tram line 6.
Meanwhile, line 8 will operate between Huchting and Westerstraße during the construction period. To reach Huchting, line 8 will go via Am Brill, Obernstraße, Domsheide, Wilhelm-Kaisen-Brücke, and Am Neuen Markt. The line will not go through the stops of Joseph-Haydn-Straße, H.-H.-Meier-Allee, Emmastraße, Wätjenstraße, Riensberg, Berufsbildungswerk, and Lise-Meitner-Straße.
The stops between Huchting and Westerstraße, which are normally served by tram line 8 during the construction period, will not be served by the replacement buses of line 6E. Instead, the replacement buses will not serve the stops between Huchting and Westerstraße on tram line 6, and will only serve the stops in the direction of Kulenkampffallee on the replacement route.
The BSAG (Bremen Transport Authority) has announced the operation of replacement buses for tram line 6 during the construction period. For precise historical service changes, it is recommended to check archives of BSAG service notices or local Bremen transport news from late 2021.
The displacement of tram line 6 due to construction works has led to the establishment of a replacement bus service (line 6E), affecting the regular financing of the public-transit industry. Meanwhile, passengers traveling along tram line 8 between Huchting and Westerstraße should note that the line will not be operating as usual, with the line 8 service deviating from its original route and the absence of the replacement buses of line 6E serving the stops between Huchting and Westerstraße.
