Aldi Ireland strikes a €1.2 million alliance with Arigna Fuels
In a significant move towards a greener future, ALDI Ireland and Arigna Fuels have announced a €1.2 million, two-year partnership to supply Arigna Fuels' renewable, low-emission heating product, Harvest Flame, to all 164 ALDI stores across the country starting August 2025.
Harvest Flame, a product engineered for efficiency and sustainability, is manufactured from 100% renewable plant-based materials, specifically olive stones, a by-product of olive oil production. This means no trees need to be felled annually, supporting its sustainability credentials. The product offers a higher heat output than traditional solid fuels like seasoned timber or pellets, while also having low moisture and ash content, significantly reducing emissions and particulates, making it a cleaner, more efficient option for households.
Arigna Fuels, a family-run business based in Arigna, Co. Roscommon, employs 45 staff and has recently made a significant investment in building Europe’s largest biochar production facility in Roscommon to support the creation of this innovative fuel. This biochar facility underpins the environmental and renewable aspects of Harvest Flame, emphasizing the company’s commitment to sustainable fuel production.
Barry Kirwan, Buying Director at ALDI Ireland, expressed his excitement about the partnership with Arigna Fuels. "We are thrilled to partner with Arigna Fuels to offer our customers a sustainable, high-quality alternative to traditional fuels," he said. "This partnership aligns with our commitment to making sustainability affordable for our customers."
Conor Layden, Commercial Director of Arigna Group, announced the partnership with ALDI to bring Harvest Flame to households across the country. "We are proud to partner with ALDI Ireland to make Harvest Flame, a low-emission, renewable heating product, available to more households," he said. "This partnership represents a strategic advancement in Arigna Group's commercial expansion."
The partnership reflects a shared vision for a greener and more energy-efficient future. It also signals ALDI’s commitment to supporting local Irish suppliers and providing consumers with sustainable, high-quality alternatives to traditional fuels.
Harvest Flame is designed for use in stoves, open fires, and outdoor fire pits and has been available as a Specialbuy at ALDI over the past year. From August 2025, it will continue to be available in all 164 ALDI stores nationwide.
This partnership marks a significant milestone in ALDI's commitment to supporting Irish suppliers and offering customers sustainable, high-quality alternatives to traditional fuels. It also reinforces Arigna Group's commitment to delivering renewable, low-emission heating solutions.
