Airbus H145s Drive West Africa's Offshore Energy Sector

Airbus H145 helicopters are playing a crucial role in West Africa's offshore energy sector. Operated by International Aviation Services (IAS), these versatile aircraft are supporting the region's growing needs, with plans to expand their fleet.

The H145's primary mission is transporting personnel and equipment to offshore energy platforms around 50 nautical miles from the coast. This role has become increasingly important following the discovery of a major oil field by ENI, which led to the introduction of the H145 to support offshore operations.

IAS, operating in Ivory Coast since early 2025, has an H145 performing offshore missions six days a week, with one to four rotations daily, accumulating 50 to 80 flight hours each month. The H145's efficiency and lower operating costs make it an attractive choice for such missions. Its versatility is further enhanced by its ability to be fitted with a winch or stretcher for medical evacuations, and its IFR certification ensures all-weather operation.

IAS has plans to expand its services across West Africa, with intentions to introduce a second H145 into the region. This expansion will likely build on the success of the current H145 operations and the growing demand for offshore support in the area.

The H145's role in West Africa's offshore energy sector is set to grow, with IAS planning to introduce a second aircraft as part of its expansion. These versatile helicopters, with their cost-effectiveness, efficiency, and all-weather capability, are well-suited to the region's needs.
