Advances in global VMware innovation showcased by Broadcom, emphasizing India's significant dual influence

India, with its immense scale, continues to drive technological innovation, according to Pradeep Nair, Vice President for India at Broadcom. This is particularly evident in the growing presence of VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) in the subcontinent.

VCF, a unified solution for managing multi-cloud environments and AI-driven workloads, is crucial for organizations in India. Without a platform like VCF, managing traditional virtual machines, modern container-based applications, and new AI workloads running on GPUs would be complex and costly, requiring three separate systems.

Broadcom recognizes the need to cater to an immense spectrum of users in India, from low-transaction 'Jan Dhan' accounts to high-net-worth individuals, on a single, cost-effective infrastructure. This is a strategic move that positions India as a critical base for Broadcom's global operations.

The goal for VCF in India is to deliver a private cloud experience equivalent to a hyperscaler while meeting stringent regulatory demands, such as those outlined in the Indian government's 'Digital India' initiative, including data localization and sovereignty policies.

The Indian government's regulations align well with VMware's strengths, enabling partners to build private clouds that are compliant with local laws. This compliance is crucial for companies such as Rapid7 and multinational clients with Global Capability Centres (GCCs) in India. These GCCs leverage India as an innovation hub and operational platform, enabling unified management of multi-cloud workloads, improving efficiency by breaking down IT silos, and complying with local regulations while delivering private cloud services globally.

A significant portion of the engineering team for VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) is based in India. This team is not only building VCF for the Indian market but also for the global market. The engineering prowess in India is a significant factor in the increased pace of innovation since Broadcom's acquisition of VMware, with more capability emerging from engineering teams in the last 18 months than in two to three years prior.

India is also home to a major support organization that serves VMware's worldwide customer base. Many customers prefer a single, consolidated platform like VCF for managing all workloads, reducing IT silos and optimizing costs.

In conclusion, the Indian market's immense scale and technological advancement make it a strategic base for Broadcom's global operations. The engineering team in India continues to build VCF, a unified solution for managing multi-cloud environments and AI-driven workloads, for the global market, driving innovation and meeting the needs of a diverse range of users.
