In a significant development, the remains of a 26-year-old man from Cologne, who went missing in July 2024, have been identified through DNA analysis. The nearly complete human skeleton was initially discovered on December 20, 2024, below the Drachenfels plateau, prompting an extensive investigation led by the Criminal Commission 11 of the Bonn Police and the Bonn Public Prosecutor's Office.
The bones were found following a report made by a witness on December 20, 2024, who suspected human bones beneath the Drachenfels plateau. The Bonn Police and fire department promptly recovered the remains on December 20 and 21, 2024.
The investigation so far has not revealed any indications of foul play. The condition of the bones found suggests a fall-related incident. The remains were sent to the forensic medicine department for examination, and DNA analysis was conducted to identify the deceased.
