A twenty-year stretch commemorating the DONAU CLASSIC event.
The DONAU CLASSIC, a prestigious classic car rally held annually in Germany, is gearing up for its 20th edition. This two-day event, which takes place in and around Ingolstadt, showcases the beauty of Central Bavaria's landscapes while celebrating the joy of driving classic vehicles.
Over the years, the DONAU CLASSIC has become a well-established event among classic car enthusiasts, with its focus on oldtimers and vehicles produced up to the year 2005. Participants can choose to compete in the full two-day event or opt for limited one-day participations.
This year's rally promises to be particularly exciting, with a wide variety of rare and historic vehicles taking part. Among them are a 1933 Plymouth PD Special and a 2024 Ferrari SF90, spanning 90 years of automotive history. Audi Tradition, a key organizer of the event, is bringing several gems from its history onto the track, including the legendary Audi Ur-quattro.
One of the highlights of the 2025 DONAU CLASSIC is the milestone 20th anniversary edition of the event. To mark this occasion, Audi Tradition is sending four further milestones of its younger company history to the start, each celebrating its individual anniversary in 2025. These include the Audi 200 5T and the Audi 80 GTE.
Another exciting feature of the DONAU CLASSIC 2025 is the "Generation Cup," a competition where teams of fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, or even grandparents and grandchildren compete against each other. A total of 23 teams have already registered for this unique event.
The first rally stage on Friday, July 18, 2025, includes moderated passage controls and special tests at various locations, such as Donat IT, Lebenshilfe, Elektrotechnik Liebhard, Sipl's Kaffee und Brothaus, and Almhütte Goaßstoi. The second stage on Saturday, July 19, features moderated passage controls and special tests at Mitten.driN, Autohaus Klepmeir, and Audi Forum Ingolstadt.
Dr. Joachim Hess, who is 100 years old, is the oldest participant in the DONAU CLASSIC 2025. The event has seen an impressive 70% increase in participants compared to 2024, with a total of 310 participants from various countries.
Stefan Trauff, head of Audi Tradition, will start at the DONAU CLASSIC anniversary with the first post-war Audi, which celebrated its world premiere 60 years ago. Walter Röhrl and Christian Geistdörfer will jointly tackle the Friday tour of the anniversary rally in the Audi Ur-quattro.
In addition to the classic cars, the rally also offers a cultural appreciation of the region. Other brands represented include Jaguar E-Type, Maserati Ghibli, Ferrari 348, and DeLorean DMC-12. For more information about the rally, including pictures of the participating vehicles, interested parties can refer to the DONAU CLASSIC rally magazine.
